{Points of Two week #6: to-do lists! & WISH workshop preview video}

Points of Two is an experiment in journaling with myself and Roben Marie! Check out our archives to see the previous weeks' pages.

This week's assignment: since Roben-Marie and I are so busy and like lists, we incorporated our To-Do lists into our journal page. Which we did fast. And then crossed it off and moved on! It's a busy time for both of us!

week 6: to-do lists!

I've been having fun with a new evolution of my style, more paint and collage. I'm going from complete mess to structured mess. I swear, it's the scrapbookers. They're slowly moving me to their side!

I have one of those Moleskine planners with a page for every day, and on Saturdays, I write in everything I need to get accomplished the next week. The key to me actually getting a lot done is micro-movements; each task is split into bite-sized pieces that I can do without getting overstimulated or tired. Thanks, SARK!

So I put a copy of my to-do list in the center and collaged around it. And colored in my doodles. And admitted I like crossing things off. Look, I'm crossing off posting this blog entry off today's list. See? Smooth line right there. Ahhh...makes me feel so productive!

I used liquid acrylics, found papers, stencils, and watercolor crayons. Oh, and a big Sharpie, cause it's fun!

Here's Roben-Marie's page. Head to her blog to get the story behind it.

I've also read your comments for yesterday's post -- I didn't get them emailed to me for some reason, and had no idea so many people had commented! I'll reply asap. But I thank you for them!

So, as requested, a preview video for the WISH Journal Workshop.

I'm off! Have a wonderful weekend!

{studio vlog tuesday: debut!}

Welcome to the first Studio Vlog Tuesday!

People are discovering and creating whole new ways to interact with readers and other artists; this medium, of being able to broadcast journal work LIVE allows you to see a page being created AS I DO IT. No fast motion, no missed minutes. Just an hour of watching me do layers from over my shoulder.

The live feed runs every Tuesday from 4-5pm central time. Afterwards, the recording will be posted here. And on Friday, an edited version will be uploaded to YouTube. All in all, that means more videos for YOU!

Better yet, you can chat LIVE while I'm filming and get questions answered right then and there.

I'm excited to see where this goes. Won't you join me?

NOTE: the sound wasn't working for about the first 15 minutes or so, so go ahead and fast forward past that. Then I'm painting and answering live chat questions as I go!

{winter journaling video; fun fonts to share!}

In celebration of 100+ fans over on Facebook, I made this video of me journaling this morning. With sunlight at a premieum during the winter months, I don't know how many more I'll make before the days lengthen, but I'm sure I'll do at least one more this season. I love making these, just am always worried the pages I'll create during them are horrible, and then where will I be?

And the cool part (could there be anything cooler?):

(no longer available for free download...up in the digital shop soon!)

Until next time, my sweet darlings! I'll see you tomorrow with the adventures of making Journal #12!

{journal-making fun}

How long has it taken me to start this? *laughs* The journal I'm using for this series is actually for darling Beth, one of my long-time readers and friends (who heartily supports me and makes me feel like a "real artist" sometimes, even though she doesn't know it; the smallest things can have huge impacts!).

Days here haven't provided very good light, so I've had to put-off making vids until I can get a sunny day! Unfortunatly, today I am booked until 5 or so, and by then, the sun's gone down. I'll try filiming with the overhead light on, though, just for you!

Thank you SO MUCH for your feedback on the last post. I adore your honesty in telling me things that may be hard to hear. I LOVE having others there to give me different perspectives, and I may be changing things. And doing rounded corners -- they won! Tomorrow, I'm working on the journal pages sets, as well as a new look and logo (and hopefully moving the blog up to the main domain) for the blog, along with some more new features. I've neglected things here for too long!

Anyway, vid time! I'm off to get my eyebrows waxed for the first time....wish me luck? *nervous!*

I've created a playlist on YouTube you can follow to get a "class" of journal-making fun...and all for free! There's also time to order a journal or two before the holidays!

{an eclectic post - journal #10 video, new bag, around the studio}

Since we're pretty much finished with journal #10, here's the page-by-page video I made a few weeks ago. You may recognize the music; this is the short, original piece I played around with that was eventually folded into a longer song for the Papaya! video. Sandrine was shocked to find out that, yes, this is music of my own creation! YouTube took away a few of my videos because of music, so I decided I'd just make my own.

When I got home from work yesterday, my mom said, "Kira, there's a package for you!"

I immedietly ran and grabbed the box, then saw who it was from -- Papaya! Inside was a brand new tote and let me tell you, these bags are AMAZING! Not only are they beautiful and show the world inspiring messages, but are versitle! Inside are a bunch of pockets, and the whole thing's made from oilcloth so you can throw some towels in and go to the beach without worries (in fact, my mom wants to take it with her on her cruise next month).

what's in my bag, happy shiny papaya edition!

I LOVE the What's in your bag group on Flickr; for some reason, I can't get enough of what people carry around with them! If you click on the photo, you'll be taken to it's page on Flickr, where you can read the notes of what everything is.

Well, it's a dreary, rainy day. Plan to finish a painting, play in my journal, and then watch Star Trek, all the extras (3 hours!!), then it again with commentary. *giggles* Why, yes, I AM a nerd!

So here are some photos from around the studio -- they're posted to the Journal Girl Facebook page. I'm having fun with it, putting some cool content up there that doesn't really fit on the blog. This is my favorite shot:

Have a lovely day!
